The Exchange Program

The Master of Global Affairs Program at the Munk School encourages its students to participate in an exchange program to enhance their overall education experience. The MGA program offers a number of exchange opportunities to students in their second year of study. Given the structure of the program, MGA students can only go on exchanges in the first semester of their second year. (If feasible, the internship undertaken in the summer between the two years of the program could thus be combined with an exchange semester in the same location.)

Our exchanges fall into two categories: Munk School Exchanges( see list below) and University of Toronto Student Exchanges. The University of Toronto’s Student Exchange Program (SEP) at the Centre for International Experience (CIE)  facilitates and supports our students going on exchange, but final approval for your participation rests with the MGA program. Regardless of which exchange you are interested in, you must obtain prior approval for your exchange from the director of the program.

The Munk School of Global Affairs has partnered with the following institutions. MGA students eligible to go on exchange to any of these schools:

GRIPS offers education programs that allow students to earn degrees using just English, with students and alumni from 79 nations worldwide so far, including Asia, Australia, Europe and Africa. They also place emphasis on recruiting our teaching staff internationally.

GRIPS students include current administrative officials from both Japan and overseas, many of which will become high-ranking members of their respective governments following graduation. Their teaching staff also includes former officials, creating a desirable environment for students pursuing policy studies.

GRIPS programs, of course, are not exclusively for those with professional experiences. In recent years, GRIPS has actively recruited new college graduates and applicants with no prior experience as officials, in order to create a network of individuals with various backgrounds and enabling a rich people environment to bolster their policy studies
